Share, Serve, Grow

Bethel provides several ways for you to grow.

Worship is the first and best way to be involved.  We worship on Sunday at 11:00 a.m.

Faith Formation

We learn about God and grow faith through Sunday School and other opportunities.  Sunday School meets at 10:00 a.m., with classes for children and also Bible study.  Our Bible study is currently reading through Paul’s letters.  Join in at any time.

We also have special learning opportunities.  For Advent, 2024, we will be reading through the first two chapters of Luke.  Last year for Advent, we got better acquainted with the background of some of our favorite Christmas carols.  In recent years, we have read Right Thinking for a Culture in Chaos, Max Lucado’s How Happiness Happens, Stephen Lawson’s Made in Our Imageas well as books by Tim Keller and Rosaria Butterfield.  We have viewed and discussed The Seven Churches of Revelation, hosted by former Cornerstone University president Joe Stowell.

Our women’s group meets for Bible study the second Wednesday of each month (September through June), at 10 a.m. (includes lunch, after!).

A men’s Bible study group meets first and third Wednesdays, at 9:00 a.m., in our Old Fellowship Hall.  You don’t have to attend Sunday worship, here or anywhere, to participate!

What about Children?

Do Good for Neighbors, Do Good for the World

We have several “hands-on” service ministries, including Vacation Bible School (June), Thanksgiving food baskets (in cooperation with Columbia Methodist Church), Christmas food baskets, Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes, and a Christmas Angel Tree ministry for Presbyterian Children’s Homes and Services.

Our Care & Share team has a ministry of kindness and compassion to our members in times of special need, as well as collecting food donations for one of our local food pantries.

If your gifts are for repair and maintenance, our Building & Grounds team might be for you.

We also have other, short-term and one-time opportunities for service.  In recent years, we have gathered school supplies and shoes for local schoolchildren, put together spring cleaning baskets for clients of the family support programs offered through Presbyterian Children’s Homes and Services, and collected gently used men’s clothing for the Texas Port Ministry.

Through our financial gifts, we help ministries locally and globally (examples include the Pregnancy Help Center, Texas Port Ministry, and the Haiti Education Foundation).  Our giving also supports the work of missionaries in Madagascar.

After worship on third Sundays, we gather for a meal, conversation, and friendship.  We enjoy a special Fall Festival towards the end of October/start of November, with games, music, and food.  We value spending time with each other and getting to know one another better.

Come discover how you fit in with what God is doing at Bethel.  Come share with us.  Come serve with us.  Come grow with us!
